Principles of Environmental Development as Learning Media
In the learning media not only tools that can be used as daily learning tools, but by utilizing the surrounding environment we can use them as learning media well and wisely. So we as teachers must be creative in processing and utilizing environmental learning media very beneficially. The media we usually use are simple props that are in our environment in general.
There are several principles that we must pay attention to in developing environment-based media:
1. Media must be in accordance with the functions and objectives according to learning.
2. Must provide an understanding of a particular concept.
3. Can encourage student creativity to experiment and explore.
4. Can be used individually, in groups or claxically.
5. Learning media are easy to use for students and students.
6. The materials used are recommended to be selected from the surrounding environment so that they are relatively inexpensive.
7. Type of media must be in accordance with the target level of students.
The environment consists of Biotic elements (living things) and Abiotics (inanimate objects). The environment that is around us is one source of learning that is very much useful, environmental learning media is no less important than other learning media.
Therefore environmental learning media is very helpful in the process of teaching and learning activities. Teachers must be able to take advantage of productive, creative and interesting media.
Environmental-based learning models, namely:
1. Students are exposed to interesting environmental phenomena.
2. Students are expected to process what is in the environment as learning media.
3. Students observe, research, and analyze the surrounding environment for learning materials.
4. Students synthesize research results.
5. Students make a concept of what is found in the environment
